Is the new Gmail AI feature making us look dumb with their preloaded suggestions?

AI Marketing

At its annual Google developer conference in 2018, Google made a number of unique announcements focusing on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) – New features that can be assessed via the web browser. One such feature is the layout that has been tweaked and there are many hidden tools that will make Gmail smarter to use.

Smart compose

This new feature will speed up typing. It is using an artificial intelligence engine which presumably collates information from previous emails. It is an improvised version of ‘smart reply’ that delivers predictive words and sentences and provides suggestions based on common phases as you write. They say this new AI feature is trying to make us productive based on the mundane task of responding to emails.

I feel it is of no help to people who want to keep the human touch in their correspondence. But only useful for people who want to enslave themselves with technology.

Confidential mode

Gmail Confidential mode restricts recipients of an email from forwarding, copying, downloading or printing it. The sender can also set an expiry date, and the email will get automatically deleted from the recipient’s inbox.

Smart Reply

The smart reply can suggest possible replies for repetitive emails.

Unread emails
Unread emails feature will send reminders, just in case you may have missed out on an important mail.

Though all these new features are great and are making our lives simpler and hassle-free. It really helps while composing emails, but then it also makes me wonder, does adapting new feature make us look dumb? I feel somewhere technology is making us believe that we are dependent on them.

What’s your take on it?
