Nike, Presenting Badass Athlete

Brands

Girls, ever wondered why clothes look better on models and mannequins?
Because they all are 6 ft tall with a 24-inch waist.

The sportswear magnate unveiled a new floor of their flagship store in Oxford Street, London catering exclusively to women, featuring plus-size and para-sports mannequins in a move to cater to all the women out there with beautiful curves!

Internet is throwing tantrums over a picture of Nike’s plus-size mannequin, and the responses are surprisingly both positive and negative.

People are actually saying that it is disgusting and Nike should be ashamed of themselves. It is actually funny because Nike already carries plus sizes, this was not really an introduction to a new collection. The outrage is probably because there is a plus-size mannequin in a store. It saddens to see that fatphobia is alive.

It may be a PR exercise but it’s great to see a mega brand in athletics is recognizing that women with plus size do exercise and want to wear something that isn’t old leggings and baggy t-shirts.

Definitely, Nike is not promoting obesity. Not everyone works out to lose weight; it’s also for fitness and strength. I don’t understand, the active internet influencers are frustrated not on a particular human, they are mad at a piece of plastic placed in a store. Seriously!!

I think Nike has pretty much communicated loud and clear that exercise isn’t just for thin people! Nike is embracing the fact that real women come in all shapes and sizes.
